Bill Riley Talent Search Preliminary Auditions Registration Deadline

5/19/2016  Preliminary auditions FOR the Bill Riley Talent Search will be held at Lincoln Elementary (321 W 8th St, Cedar Falls) on Saturday June, 11. Sprout Division (age 2 to 12) will audition in order of arrival from 9:00 am – 10:30am, and Seniors (age 13 to 21) in order of arrival from 10:30am – 12 noon. Registration forms must be received by Thursday, June 9, 2016 to participate in the preliminary auditions. To fill out an application, click here.

Talent search finalists will take the stage at Overman Park on Friday, June 24 at 6:30 pm. Winners will be announced after the show and then ride in the Sturgis Falls Celebration Parade on Saturday morning, June 25.



Parade Registration Deadline

5/19/2016  The 2016 Sturgis Falls Celebration Parade registration deadline is June 1. Registration can be completed online by clicking here.

There are over 100 entries in the parade annually, each with the requirement of incorporating the theme into their display. The 2016 theme is “Let the Good Times Roll.”

The El Kahir Shriners will have multiple units in the parade this year. This is due to their organization being honored as the 2016 Cornerstone Award recipients.

The parade route will begin on Clay Street, turn east on 11th Street, and will continue north on Main Street. Then the parade will turn west on 3rd Street and south on Franklin Street, where the route will conclude on 5th Street. 




2d Marine Division Band to Perform

3/17/2016  The Sturgis Falls Celebration Board of Directors is pleased to announce the 2d Marine Division Band, from Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, will perform on Saturday, June 25 at 7pm in Overman Park.

The 2d Marine Division Band - "The Division's Own" - was formed from elements of the 2d, 6th, and 8th Marine Regiment Bands during 1942. Spanning the continental United States, the musicians of this Marine Corps Band entertain audiences at more than 225 performances each year. With an authorized strength of one officer and fifty enlisted Marines, the band travels more than 40,000 miles annually carrying on a long-standing tradition of excellence and service to both Corps and Country.

The Band promises an exciting program that the entire family is sure to enjoy. Performance numbers will be selected from familiar marches, traditional classics, patriotic favorites, big band sounds, jazz, country, and Top 40 hits. The band will also march in the Annual Parade which is on Saturday, June 25 at 10am and a smaller Party Ensemble will perform at 1:30pm on Overman Stage.

Entertainment formerly located in Tourist Park moved to Gateway Park in 2012.

This change provided abundant parking, more food vendors, a larger area to enjoy the bands, and the new 40' Jumbotron for better viewing of the stage. The Carnival and Gateway Vendor Market are also located in Gateway Park.

It is located on Lincoln Street, one block northeast of 1st & Main Streets.
