Jim
Krieg was born in northwest Iowa, the 4th of five boys,
to Phil and Celesta Krieg. He learned hard work and the value of
relationships with family and neighbors on a farm near Kingsley. Jim
credits his parents and grandparents for instilling in him a sense
of responsibility to the community.
Jim has served the City of Cedar Falls and been involved in the
Cedar Valley community in many ways throughout the past 31 years.
During his appointment as Director of Developmental Services for
Cedar Falls, he was in charge of the engineering, planning,
building, and community development activities. Areas of development
included the highways, trails, and prairie lakes, as well as a
long-range development plan for the Industrial Park. He serves on
the United Way Board of Directors and as Leadership Contributor, is
a member of the Cedar Falls Historical Society Board and Past
President, and has been a Rotary Club member for 28 years. He is
also on the Sartori Hospital Community Advisory Board, the First
National Bank Board Member and is Vice-President of the Iowa
Association Municipal Utilities which represents 550 municipal
utilities throughout the state.
In Cedar Falls, Jim has found a community that resonates with the
values of his youth, never more evident than in 2008, when he saw
our citizens reaching out to our Cedar Valley and Parkersburg
neighbors to help them recover from the devastation of a F5 tornado
and a 500 year flood. He feels fortunate to live in a community
where the spirit of service and strong relationships with others
exists in such a vital way. |
