Bob and Linda
Kramer have been named the Host and Hostess for the 2009 Sturgis
Falls Celebration. Both have been familiar faces to Cedar Falls
residents for decades. Bob retired this past fall after serving 34
years with the Cedar Falls Police Department, and Linda retired
earlier this year from the Cedar Falls Recreation Center after 15
years of service to the city.
Bob was born in
Waterloo, Linda in Cedar Falls, making them life-long residents of
the Cedar Valley. After their marriage in 1976 (the same year as
the first Sturgis Falls event), they lived, worked and raised their
sons, Michael and Daniel, in Cedar Falls. The boys were active in
many recreational activities, including swimming, t-ball, baseball,
and basketball.
Bob and Linda
believe in giving back to the community they love. As a
representative of the Police Department, Bob took every available
opportunity to speak to groups of all ages on topics such as crime
prevention, alcohol and tobacco awareness and enforcement, and the
prevention of internet crimes against our children. Linda
volunteered with Cub Scouts in a variety of ways. Both were
actively involved in activities at Nazareth Lutheran Church.
Their special
memories of Sturgis Falls activities include picking out a favorite
parade viewing spot (usually by 8:00 a.m.), the Big Wheel races
(when the boys were young), finding Bob at his assigned work
location, and eating their favorite foods.
Family vacations
led them to find their retirement home in central Florida. Bob and
Linda will never forget their Cedar Falls roots and are especially
excited to share their love for Cedar Falls and the Sturgis Falls
Celebration. They are thrilled to share their enthusiasm this year
with their new Florida neighbors, two of which will accompany the
Kramer’s for this year's Sturgis Falls festivities.
